Prof. Hyun-Joong Kim

Prof. Hyun-Joong Kim is an Emeritus Professor at Seoul National University, Republic of Korea, and Distinguished Professor at Batam Institute of Technology, Indonesia. He received his Ph.D. in Adhesion Science from The University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1995.

Prof. Kim is a renowned scholar with over 350 peer-reviewed publications, 52 books, 64 patents, and nearly 500 invited talks, including plenary and keynote lectures. His research focuses on adhesion science, interface engineering, biomaterials, and bio-based composites, with significant contributions to polymer science and environmentally friendly materials.

Throughout his career, he has held prominent academic and leadership roles, including Director of the BK21 Center for Biomass-based Bio-Materials and Vice-President of the Seoul National University Industry Foundation. Prof. Kim has served on the editorial boards of numerous international journals and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Open Journal of Organic Polymer Materials.

His outstanding achievements have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, such as the Peebles Award (The Adhesion Society, USA) and the 70th NAS Award (National Academy of Sciences, Republic of Korea). He is a Fellow of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology and a Fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS), reflecting his global impact on materials science and adhesion research.
